Divisive Ate

"Let's Go! Divisive Ate! Make-up!"

Pretty much ever since I got the idea for Max/Ate's transformation, I've really wanted to draw it. I kind of based it on Cure Lemonade's transformation from Yes! Precure 5 GoGo [link] but it's kind of built from there.

I wanted to keep the 'toys of power' idea from The Devil's Playhouse, so I ended up giving him Silly Putty for his transformation item/Disguise item (in place of the Rhinoplasty ) and an old-fashioned toy top for his weapon. I realized much later, however, that there were some toys I would have loved to include, so he now gets a hula hoop as part of his transformation.

I seriously cannot wait to color this. It came out soo good!

EDIT Well, it's colored, and my scanner is offically the crappiest thing in the entire universe. See his collar and all the pretty orange parts? Yeah, they were NEON in the original. My scanner just doesn't pick that up. And I messed with the colors as much as I could to try and get them a fraction of how bright they are in my sketchbook. Nope. I scanned it twice, and this is the only one whose colors came anywhere near close to the original brilliance.

You may notice that the dominant color in Ate's uniform here is white instead of black. This came about because when I was coloring it, I left the shirt/pants/gloves until last, and just loved how ridiculously bright all the colors were (in the original ) and couldn't bring myself to make those parts black. So, I'm just going to say that when he (eventually) joins the good guys, the black parts of his uniform turn white.

(And for those of you wondering, the pinkish-stuff covering his legs is Silly Putty. Just in case that wasn't clear before.)
